Saedis Hallorsdottir

Before enrolling in NBSS, I was working as a marketing manager and attending business classes at the University of Reykjavik, Iceland. But, I wasn't pursuing my dream. I wanted to design and make something with my hands. I wanted to have my own business and sell what I make. I wanted my name to be known for what I made.

I began studying art and design at a technical college in Iceland and after graduation I wanted to specialize in jewelry making, after evaluating several options I decided to apply to NBSS. Leaving my family and living in a foreign country was at times challenging, the Internet and Skype made it quite easy.

Saedis' work

The Jewelry Making & Repair program is hard work, yet very satisfying. The best thing was learning the techniques of the trade on an industrial level. You have to set your mind completely and be willing to follow the directions from the teachers 100%. If you do, you will become a great jeweler and be ready to work right after graduation.

I opened my own studio/gallery at the Old harbor in Reykjavik Iceland on June 5, 2010. I am self-employed and, in addition to my own work, I sell art and design by other Icelandic craftsmen and artists. I'm a goal-driven person and work hard. I know if I keep following my dream, it will come true.
