NBC10 features a grassroots effort by NBSS staff and faculty to gather supplies that help healthcare professionals on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

As a trade school, NBSS has much of the type of personal protective equipment (PPE) needed by medical professionals and in short supply during the COVID-19 crisis. Our staff and faculty, led by Katie Theodoros and Ann Cahoon JM ’02, mobilized to gather masks, protective equipment, and supplies from our local networks, and we were able to send a great supply of these to Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program (BHCHP).

BHCHP was chosen because members of our staff and faculty had personal connections to nurses in need of PPE, and because the nonprofit represents a particularly vulnerable population in this crisis. Here’s what was donated:

  • 300 n-95 masks
  • 1,000 nitrile gloves
  • 5 faceshields
  • 100 goggles

We’re putting the word out to networks—craftspeople, building trades professionals, manufacturers, related small businesses—to do the same and share their PPE with our medical workers in need. In addition, NBSS is making handmade masks for healthcare professionals and others.

Check out our social media feeds for more information on how you can help with these and other efforts.
